Cheese is a favorite food, especially blue and the flavorful soft French varieties. It is ridiculously inexpensive here; one euro will buy a generous wedge of Roquefort.

I am troubled when I see people here buying Philadelphia Cream Cheese Food (by law the “food” must be appended because IT’S NOT REALLY CHEESE) for TWICE what European “real” cheese goes for.

When I saw a German tourist pick up a package at the grocery store this morning, I couldn’t help myself.

Me: “What makes that a good choice?”

German tourist: “Because it is imported! Costs more, too, so I know it is better.”

Note to self: Look into acquiring the European franchise for Cheez-Whiz.
