I am a fan of city bike-sharing programs. Some, like Valencia’s, allow tourists to buy day passes. (Others, like Barcelona’s, exclude non-residents as an assist to local bike-rental shops.)

Valencia converted the river that ran through (and periodically flooded) the town into a l-o-n-g greenbelt. We pedaled through it to the beach, past a lot of weirdly retro/spaceship architecture that looked straight out of the Jetsons.

People here really use their park: we passed soccer matches, food stalls, dog obstacle courses, riding stables, every type of athletic class (weight training, aerial fabric, Kangoo Jumps, step, yoga), and lots of picnicking (and smooching) couples.

When was the last time you went to the park? What did you do there?
