I met two young women who started a small side business here in Barcelona. When they were brainstorming concepts, they had two criteria: the job had to be weekends only (they have day jobs during the week) and require them to be outside. They considered tour guide, landscaper, and similar jobs until they had a brilliant idea: water wars.
Investment: large trash bags, squirt guns, plastic tubs, permit from the city to operate in the park.

Concept: pay a couple of euros for your kid to don a trash bag, be issued a squirt gun, and have at it for ten minutes, squirting any and all other participants.

Result: Lines AROUND THE PARK every Saturday and Sunday. The young women are now in the process of developing other locations and an adult version, too.

I love these type of entrepreneur stories! How about you? Have you ever created a job for yourself when young?
