You say candy bar, I say energy bar.

While waiting for the ferry back to the main island, we strolled along the waterfront, stopping at a small store at the end of an alley.

Husband asked for a bottle of water and “something chocolatey.” He received his drink and a Snickers bar (at .95 of a euro, definitely a bargain).

I asked the shopkeeper if she had any energy bars. She said yes, so I asked for one, plus a bottle of water. She produced a bottle of water identical to Husband’s … and a Snickers bar. My bill? 1.25 euros.

When I asked why the price difference, the shopkeeper looked at me as though I were simple. “Because energy bars cost more than candy bars,” she said.
