Toured the Museo del Oro; world’s biggest collection of pre-Hispanic gold work. I knew I would like it; I am like a magpie; if something is shiny, I’m drawn to it, and this place had rooms and rooms of the stuff.

My favorite items–other than the crowns, which spoke to my I-want-to-be-queen tendencies–were the earrings. The museum gift shop (one of my favorite places to buy souvenirs) had lovely gold and gold-plated replicas. Unfortunately, they were just too heavy. My earlobes would be down to my shoulders after two days of wearing them!
